Clubs san francisco, san francisco sightseeing tours, san francisco attraction

A world-renowned city based in the state of California, San Francisco is considered to be the fourteenth largest city in the US. It also boasts of a dense population. If you are wondering what there could be to see in an already crowded place like this, well, there is plenty on offer. Not only does it boast of glorious natural beauty, but there are several man-made attractions too that appeal to tourists coming from all corners of the globe!
Take a look at where San Francisco is located—just on the tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. There is the magnificent Pacific Ocean to the west of the place and San Francisco Bay to the east. It is because of its location that the city has been nicknamed, “City by the Bay.” As for the places of interest worth visiting, here is the complete lot—

(1) The “Golden Gate Bridge” is synonymous with San Francisco; it is so well-known everywhere! Situated to the north of the city, the Bridge has 750-foot high towers, and spans distance of two miles. The towers are colored a bright orange, making them seem quite prominent. The Bridge itself is a link between the San Francisco Peninsula and Marin County. You are allowed to just walk across or use your bike; but whatever you do, this man-built glorious structure cannot but fail to fill you with awe!

(2) How would you like to view everything from every direction? Just climb to the top of “Lombard Street” and cast your eyes all round! What is so special about this street? Well, it is the US’ most crooked street! You can see the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square, and Telegraph Hill from the top.

(3) There is another high point in the city that is equally famous—“Nob Hill”. This rich neighborhood houses some of the most famous names in San Francisco. You will come across wealthy people who earned their money via silver mining, railroads, and other industries; the city and the West Coast came up because of these industries. A representation of splendid architecture is the Grace Cathedral! Considered to be the world’s largest Episcopal Church, its doors are made of bronze and windows, of beautiful stained glass.

(4) You will never forgive yourself if you miss out on a visit to “Fisherman’s Wharf!” There are blocks and blocks of historic landmarks such as the Ghirardelli Square and The Cannery at Del Monte Square; shops; and other attractions such as the Wax Museum and the Aquarium of the Bay. The Sea Lions living off Pier 39 are the most famous residents of this place.

(5) There’s a bit of China too in San Francisco; you can get a glimpse of Chinese history and their customs and traditions in “Chinatown”. Even the Chinese settlers in this place have contributed their bit towards the development of this great city. You will find old and original schools and churches still in existence, plus restaurants offering scrumptious food and traditional herb shops.

(6) If China is there, can Japan be left far behind? And so you have the “Japanese Tea Garden” at 9th Avenue, Lincoln Way, Golden Gate Park! This is the oldest Japanese Garden in California, originally a part of the 1894 World Fair. There are wet and dry zen gardens spread over five acres of land, as well as a drum bridge ready to climb, a tea house that offers you stunning views from every angle, and a pagoda.

(7) Original Spanish settlers set up the “Presidio” in 1776. It has been considered the symbol of defense by Americans since that time. This was the oldest continually operating military base in the USA, till it was closed and transferred to the National Park Service.

(8) Finally, there is “Alcatraz Island” left to visit. “The Rock” is housed across the Bay and is reached only by the ferry. This is also a part of the National Park Service now. Many notorious criminals were kept in this inescapable fortress to serve their sentences. Additional attractions on this island are natural tide pools, bird sanctuaries, the first lighthouse built on this island, and the US fort on the West Coast. It need not be repeated that this place offers breathtaking views of the Bay too!
